Dr. Daniel Sandoval

 

Daniel Sandoval (2020-2024) was born and raised in Santa Paula, having graduated from Santa Paula High in 1989. He then went to the California Institute of Technology, graduating with a bachelor’s degree with Honors in Engineering. After volunteering and then running a homeless shelter in Hartford, CT, he received his Ph.D. in Sociology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. During that time, Daniel established a professional career in data analysis and computer programming at which he still practices. He also was blessed with two wonderful children from his late first wife, the youngest of which was born with Down syndrome.

Daniel teaches at the university level at Cal State Channel Islands and Cal Lutheran in their Sociology departments. He is remarried to Jenny Crosswhite, a member of the Santa Paula City Council. Daniel sat as trustee on the Blanchard Community Library board, was a member of the school district’s LCAP committee, was treasurer of First Christian Church (Santa Paula), chairs the Ventura County District Attorney’s Family Justice Center Research Committee, was a member of the Santa Paula Census Complete Count Committee, and is a member of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce.
