Green Schoolyards Project

Santa Paula Unified School District was awarded two Green Schoolyard Project grants in 2023.  These grants will be used to upgrade the play areas and fields at Blanchard Elementary School, the preschool at Blanchard Elementary School, Glen City Elementary School, Barbara Webster Elementary School, and the preschool at Barbara Webster Elementary School.  The grantor is CalFire, and the objective of the grants is to markedly cool ambient temperatures on play areas and fields through the introduction of new trees and other measures.  These projects will also feature some new "nature-play" elements that should provide fun play areas for the students at each campus.

This project is currently in the design phase, and plans for all three campuses were resubmitted to DSA on 11/26/25.  Once DSA approval is obtained, the bid phase will commence.  Presently, the tentative start date for construction efforts is the spring of 2026.
