Green Schoolyards Project

Santa Paula Unified School District was awarded two Green Schoolyard Project grants in 2023.  These grants will be used to upgrade the play areas and fields at Blanchard Elementary School, the preschool at Blanchard Elementary School, Glen City Elementary School, Barbara Webster Elementary School, and the preschool at Barbara Webster Elementary School.  The grantor is CalFire, and the objective of the grants is to markedly reduce ambient temperatures on play areas and fields through the introduction of new trees and other measures.  This project will also feature new "nature-play" elements that will provide fun play areas for the students at each campus.

The construction contract was awarded March 25, 2026, and temporary facilities (fencing, toilets, stormwater pollution prevention) were put in place during April.  Construction should begin in earnest this May!
