SPHS McMahan Gym Voluntary Seismic Upgrade Project

The McMahan Gym had previously been identified on the state's AB 300 list (a seismic inventory), so SPUSD hired a structural engineer to evaluate the seismic safety of this building.  Important seismic upgrades were determined to be prudent, so the District moved forward with this project to include new concrete wall to roof connections, a new metal roof, accessibility upgrades at the exterior east entrance to the building, and new paint for the building's exterior.

 

Construction began in March 2023, and the project was substantially completed during the fall of 2023.   Please admire the building's striking new metal roof the next time you are on campus!
