SPUSD Announcements

  • January 10, 2022

    Dear SPUSD Family,

I want to thank our families for their continued collaboration in keeping our students healthy and safe. I also want to thank our teachers and staff for working around the clock, pitching in anywhere they can, and doing everything possible to keep our students in school and learning.

Once again, we enter the COVID unknown with new daily announcements and health mandates.  We understand the unknown is always a time of high anxiety for everyone, therefore, we will continue to do our best to keep you informed of changes that affect our schools.

First and foremost, student and staff safety are always our number one concern and priority.  Starting tomorrow, sites will distribute home testing kits we have received by the state. School sites will continue to do health checks at the gates and limit visitors on-site.  In addition, SPUSD will be using Parent Square to have parents voluntarily do health checks at home as an additional safety precaution.  If you have questions concerning quarantine times and when it is appropriate for your student to return to school, the Ventura County Public Health Department has updated the Student Quarantine Decision Flow chart which is available on our website.

The CDC, State, and County Health Departments have communicated that they believe students are safest from the virus at school and the vast majority of new cases of students have been contracted outside of schools.  Although this makes the likelihood of schools closing very low, SPUSD will be preparing staff and students for the possibility of Distance Learning. Currently, California does not allow for Public or Private TK – 12 schools to move to Distance Learning and only a state mandate can close our schools.

As we continue to battle with the side effects of the new variant surge please do the following:

    • If your child is not feeling well, he/she should remain at home.
    • If your child has been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for a virus, please keep your child home, Take the home COVID tests or take a test at a local site and notify the school.
    • All students and staff are required to wear a mask while indoors. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a mask outdoors when in crowded spaces, however it is optional at this time.

SPUSD has been in continual contact with VCPHD to increase testing centers in Santa Paula, the following testing sites are available for all students, staff and community members:

    •  Santa Paula High School: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The testing tent is right next to the tennis courts.
    • Isbell Middle School: Tuesday and Friday from 9:00 -5:00 p.m. Harvard Blvd parking lot.
    • Vons Parking Lot:  Wednesdays through Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Results are typically available in 1-2 days.
    • Rite Aid Pharmacy: By appointment only.  Call 315-401-7865.
    • Additional testing sites can be found at the California for All website at Https://

Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for all your support and patience.  Together we can get through this surge.
